Timber cladding for timber construction and renovation projects

A closer look at the Sivalbp timber cladding project for 74 social housing units.

Located in the heart of a densely populated urban area, the Jaurès Petit project combines the refurbishment of a former car garage into a block of flats with the construction of a timber structure for social housing.

The Parisian agency archi5 won the architectural competition launched by Paris Habitat, which included two projects in one:

  • A project to build 74 social housing units and
  • A development of 75 homes for first-time buyers, built in association with Encore Heureux Architectes.

Larch wood cladding for a sustainable façade

To blend in perfectly with its surroundings, the Jaurès Petit project is clad in a Sivalbp wood cladding solution. The architect's office chose the New Age wood cladding solution based on Larch, in our Gris 102 saturator. Larch wood cladding is renowned for its exceptional durability and resistance to the most extreme climates. The wood cladding boards have a very fine grain. All our Larch wood comes from ecologically responsible forests and is PEFC certified. To find out more about Why choose Larch for wood cladding, read our dedicated article .

Pre-weathered wood cladding to anticipate the effects of time

To clad the façade of the project, we chose a pre-weathered saturator. The advantage of choosing a grey saturator for wood cladding is that it anticipates the effects of time and the natural greying of wood.

At Sivalbp, all our saturation finishes are solvent-free and made from natural pigments.

At the heart of this multi-family housing project, the frequency and cost of façade maintenance were also decisive factors in the choice of the biosourced material used to clad the façade. The advantage of Sivalbp saturated finishes lies in their low maintenance requirements over time. Our saturated finishes do not flake, and do not need to be stripped or sanded. Maintenance costs are therefore controlled and anticipated.

The choice of Larch wood cladding with a pre-weathered saturator for the Jaurès Petit project ensures that the facades blend seamlessly into their urban environment.
