In this interview, we explore their expertise, their landmark projects and their innovative vision for the future of timber construction.

Could you tell us a bit about your business?

"Founded in 1979 by Léon Le Trudet, our family business, Le Trudet Charpentes, specialises in timber framing and cladding. Based in Hennebont (56), we work within a 100 km radius in Morbihan and South Finistère, bringing our expertise and dynamism to every project.

We offer a full range of timber frame and cladding services, including the construction and renovation of traditional and glulam frames, as well as external thermal insulation and timber-frame houses. We also carry out a wide range of landscaping work. Our expertise is aimed at the public, private and individual markets, covering the needs of municipalities, property developers and individual homeowners."

What is your expertise in wood cladding?

"We frequently use timber cladding both for new-build projects to add a modern touch, and for renovation projects, where it creates a harmonious link between traditional buildings and modern timber extensions."

What do you think are the advantages of wood cladding?

What do you think are the advantages of wood cladding?

"Wood cladding gives façades a warm, natural look. It helps eliminate thermal bridges and improves sound insulation. What's more, it has the advantage of being able to be installed on a variety of substrates, from timber frames to rendered walls.

What innovations would you like to see developed?

"Creating innovative profile combinations and 40mm open-joint battens for modern facades."

Can you share some of your wood cladding projects with us?

"One notable recent project was the refurbishment and extension of the offices of the DDTM (Direction Départementale des Territoires et de la Mer) in Lorient (Morbihan), carried out in collaboration with the architects AGA Architectes. We installed EcoThermo Nordic Pine wood cladding from the Vintage Sivalbp range with a black #Café 111 finish.
